image   Pune (Maharashtra), Apr 9 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh has said that his party is not in the business of seeking "unwanted support" from other parties during this year's general elections, and added that if any party wanted to help the BJP come to power, it should either merge with the BJP or become part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Addressing a rally here on Tuesday, Singh's missive appeared to be directed at Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who of late has been attempting to create divisions between the BJP and its long-term ally, the Shiv Sena.

image   Agra, April 8 : Bollywood actress Sri Devi and her husband Bonney Kapoor Tuesday campaigned for Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate Amar Singh in Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh.

Huge crowds turned up to see Sri Devi, causing traffic jams on the national highway, witnesses said. Amar Singh's RLD has an alliance with the Congress.

image   Bhubaneswar, April 8 : Congress chief Sonia Gandhi as well as BJP leaders Narendra Modi and Sushma Swaraj will campaign in Odisha for the second phase of the Lok Sabha election, to be held April 17, party sources said Tuesday.

Gandhi who visited Odisha for a few hours Saturday and addressed a rally in Khariar town of Nuapada district, about 550 km from here, will again be in the state Thursday to campaign in the coastal belt.

Swaraj, leader of the opposition in the outgoing Lok Sabha, will hit the campaign trail in Rairangpur, Anandpur and Mahakalpada the same day.

image Mysore, April 8 : BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Tuesday said that people will vent their anger against the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing an election rally in Mysore, he said: "The public is in a mood to teach Congress a lesson."

Modi alleged that the Congress did not fulfill any of its promises made in the last ten years.

image New Delhi, April 8 : Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will be addressing rallies in Assam, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh while campaigning for the party's Lok Sabha candidates.

According to a release from his office, Gandhi will hold a public meeting at Silchar Lok Sabha constituency in Cachar district of Assam. This meeting, scheduled 10.30 a. m., will take place at Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex at Udharband.

Gandhi will attend another public meeting at 2 p. m. in Chhattisgarh's Kanker Lok Sabha constituency which falls in the state's Balod district.

image New Delhi, April 8 : AAP leader and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday said he faced a threat to life after being slapped by a man while campaigning for his party here.

"These attacks are scripted. When they (attackers) are arrested, they repeat the (same) script," Kejriwal told the media after being attacked by an auto-rickshaw driver who first garlanded the AAP leader.

The attacker then gave a whacking slap, stunning Kejriwal.

image   Colombo, April 8 - The Sri Lankan government Monday refused to cooperate with an international investigation into alleged human rights abuses in the country.

External Affairs Minister G. L. Peiris said the government will not allow international investigators to visit Sri Lanka to conduct a probe, Xinhua reported.

Peiris told reporters in Colombo that an international investigation cannot take place on Sri Lankan soil without the cooperation of the government.

The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva had recently passed a resolution calling for an international investigation into the war in Sri Lanka.

image   Thrissur (Kerala), April 7 : Congress president Sonia Gandhi Monday appealed to voters to defeat the "forces of darkness" while slamming the BJP for being divisive and the CPI-M for pursuing a redundant ideology.

Kolkata, April 7 : Lashing out at the Election Commission after it transferred eight West Bengal officials, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday refused to carry out the orders and said she was even prepared to go to jail.

Challenging the commission, Banerjee said: "Put me in jail. I will not remove a single officer as chief minister. You rule and remove."

A fuming Banerjee termed the commission's decision as a conspiracy hatched by the central government, the poll panel, the Congress, the BJP and the CPI-M as also a media group.

The plans will increase the company's total investment in the country to £1 billion during 2014. image Efforts to try to identify debris from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in the southern Indian Ocean are unlikely to start again for "at least another 24 hours," Australian Defense Minister David Johnston said Tuesday.

image   New Delhi, March 18 : The under-recovery, or revenue loss, on diesel for the second fortnight effective March 16 has come down to Rs. 7.16 per litre from Rs. 8.37 during the first fortnight of the month, the petroleum ministry said Tuesday.

"In the case of PDS Kerosene and Domestic LPG the under-recoveries for the month of March 2014 remains unchanged at Rs. 36.34 per litre and Rs. 605.80 per cylinder respectively as their refinery gate prices are determined on monthly basis," the ministry added.

image   The infant gorilla delivered at the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park stayed under 24-hour care Monday as she combats pneumonia.

The infant, given birth on Wednesday by cesarean section, is, no doubt treated by the veterinary staff and neonatal experts from UC San Diego Health.  The C-segment conveyance was a first for the world-popular San Diego Zoo.

On Friday, the gorilla experienced surgery to expand one lung that was not in a good shape.
