Kanpur: In a bid to project Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as BJP’s next prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is mulling over fielding him from politically sensitive Lucknow or Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh.
"The Parliamentary Board of the BJP is discussing very seriously that Modi should be fielded from UP. This is the best way to project him as our Prime Ministerial candidate", Rajesh Patel, Secretary of Gujarat BJP, said in Kanpur on Monday.
Rajesh added, "Although Modi is most popular leader, his contesting from UP will send a positive signal across the country. We are very comfortable in Gujarat and so he can be here to prove that he is successor of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee".
