The study of 1,000 adults, which was conducted by travel firm Expedia, has found that men fall in love faster than women, the Daily Express reported.
A quarter of men admitted they were head-over-heels at first sight, while 29 per cent were hooked within hours.
It was suggested that only 18 per cent of women were infatuated with their men after the first meeting them, while an additional 29 per cent were besotted after just one date.
The study also revealed that women are more likely than men to judge potential partners on personality and interests, rather than looks.
It was found that one man in 20 has tried to impress his mate on a first date by boasting of his sexual prowess while the same number of women talk about wedding and kids.
