The poll conducted by WhatsYourPrice, an online dating site that allows users to buy and sell first dates, has found that 88 per cent of men have broken up with someone over text message, compared to only 18 per cent of women, the Huffington Post reported. 

 

The site, which surveyed 7,500 of its male members and 8,300 of its female members, suggested that 71 percent of men have dumped someone over the phone, compared to 43 per cent of women. 

 

Around 72 per cent of women preferred breaking up in person, compared to 47 per cent of men. 

 

It was also found that only eight percent of men have ever broken up with someone through social media, but 32 percent of women have used social platforms like Facebook and Twitter to end their relationships.
