Men are quite wary of entering the kitchen, especially when they have to cook a meal for their wife. But there's nothing better than preparing a dish for your wife to bring a smile on her face.
Plan it out
The first step to preparing a meal for your wife is by planning it out. Try making a dish that your partner loves to eat or if you want to surprise her, experiment with something you haven't tried before. Making a meal isn't just about food alone; you need to decide on the place where you would like to lay out the food. It could be your dining table, porch or outside on the lawn.
Decide on the menu
Next, decide what you would want to cook for her. Choose from an elaborate five course or a simple three-course meal, depending on how good a cook you are! Note down all the ingredients required and check whether you have them stocked in sufficient quantity.
Since you will be cooking for your beloved, try experimenting with the dishes you make, instead of making something usual. Go for a theme-based menu like a romantic Greek dinner or a French dinner. Also, try to keep a couple of entree like a quiche or assorted cheese and bread basket. For the side, you could opt for grilled veggies or fish and for the main course, a grilled steak or succulent chicken would be your best bet. Make sure you don't forget on desserts; waffles and ice cream would be the best combo.
Should appeal to her senses
Women feel happy when they see a lot of bright colours. Make sure you include strawberries, celery, blueberries either in your dish or as a salad. Also, play with flavours like clove, cinnamon, licorice and even garlic! These spices are known to evoke the sense of smell, which have aphrodisiac effects. Herbs like mint, parsley and fenugreek not only add colour, but also gives the meal a unique flavour.
Lay the table
Preparing a romantic meal for your wife is not only about dishing something special for her, but also making sure that you have the table decorated well enough to make her feel special. Your meal needs to be complimented with the right tableware. A nice white or pink tablecloth is appropriate for a date night at home. Crystal, porcelain or opal make for attractive dinnerware. Also have an attractive flower arrangement done with roses and orchids as the centrepiece on your table, with some scented candles to be lighted at the right time.
Stock up on some wine
There's nothing more romantic than clinking your wine glasses on a perfect date night. Consider your wife's tastes while selecting wine — full bodied or maybe champagne. Also, remember to create subdued lighting in the dining area to add to the romance.
Play soft music
To enhance your romantic night with your wife, do not forget to switch on some soulful music while you dine. This will not only make your meal special, but also make your wife feel special that you have taken efforts to make her happy and do something for her.
