Harvard Medical School was established in 1782 and has many Nobel laureates.
 

Since the school was established in 1782, faculty members have improved human health by innovating in their roles as physicians, mentors and scholars. They’ve piloted educational models, developed new curricula to address emerging needs in health care, and produced thousands of leaders and compassionate caregivers who are shaping the fields of science and medicine throughout the world with their expertise and passion.

Imperial College LondonThe Faculty of Medicine is one of Europe’s largest medical institutions – in terms of its staff and student population and its research income.

Established in 1997, it brings together all the major West London medical schools into one world-class institution. It maintains close links with a number of NHS Trusts with whom it collaborates in teaching and research activities.

Although on several sites, its academic divisions function as one Faculty, fully integrated within the College. The current Dean, Professor Dermot Kelleher, took up his appointment on 1 October 2012.

University of Oxford The University of Oxford in England is one of the oldest universities in England and is tied in 5th place with the Imperial College of London on the list of the best colleges in the world.

Oxford University offers a large range of degrees in its Medical Sciences Division, such as neuroscience, diagnostic imaging, clinical embryology and more.

7. University of Chicago

Chicago UnivercityDr. Holly J. Humphrey is Professor of Medicine and Dean for Medical Education at the University of Chicago. In this role, she oversees medical education for students in the Pritzker School of Medicine and for residents and fellows in graduate medical education programs at the University of Chicago Medical Center. 

A 1983 Honors graduate of the Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Humphrey completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at The University of Chicago before joining the faculty in 1989.  For fourteen years, she served as Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program before moving to her current position in 2003.  In 2006, Dr. Humphrey became the first clinician-educator at The University of Chicago awarded tenure.

 

8. Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Medical univercityAbout 10 percent of the U.S. population suffers from dyslexia, a condition that makes learning to read difficult. Dyslexia is usually diagnosed around second grade, but the results of a new study from MIT could help identify those children before they even begin reading, so they can be given extra help earlier.

The study, done with researchers at Boston Children’s Hospital, found a correlation between poor pre-reading skills in kindergartners and the size of a brain structure that connects two language-processing areas.
