Alstom India bags Rs.106 crore contract from RIL

New Delhi, Jan 22 : Transmission infrastructure firm Alstom T&D India Wednesday said it has got a contract worth Rs. 106 crore from Reliance Industries (RIL) to provide power transformer packages for the expansion of RIL's Jamnagar refinery in Gujarat.

"The contract is part of an ongoing expansion known as J3, which denotes phase three expansion of the Jamnagar complex," Alstom said in a filing to the BSE.

The company said the scope of the new contract includes designing, engineering, manufacturing, supply, supervision of erection, and commissioning of 14 gasification service transformers and three generator step-up transformer packages.

"These transformers are integral components, essential for safe and efficient transmission of power on the electric grid," the statement said.

In the third phase of the Jamnagar project, Alstom will provide transformers to receive power at high voltages, and lower them to acceptable levels for distribution to newly expanded complexes that include gasification plants, the ethylene cracker complex, and the paraxylene plant.

Alstom added that all transformers will be manufactured from its manufacturing facility in India. (IANS)
